THE ALPS IN A AFTERNOON AS WELL AS WHY WE DON’T USE WATERMARKS

Why we Don’t Use Watermarks 2.0

BTW, this spawned a prohibited contention in this Google+ Thread!

I’ve not long ago updated this list… so we suspicion you might like the new chronicle and reason since i get this subject a lot.

I know my perspective is different than many other photographers, and that is okay.

As you might know, my work is all Creative Commons Non-Commercial. That equates to people, as long as they give credit and couple back to http://www.StuckInCustoms.com, can use my images on their blogs, wallpaper, personal use – anything – as long as it is not used commercially. Every day, we upload a HUGE 6000+ pixel max-resolution picture to the Internet. we do not have any fright at all… Believe me, it’s quite liberating vital in a universe but internet-stealth-fear.

People that want to permit our images continually hit our chartering group – we get many of these every day of the week.

So because don’t we use watermarks? It’s a multi-part truth –

1) Watermarks look ugly. Whenever we look at a print with a watermark, mostly times, ALL we can think about is that watermark! It’s so distracting. Maybe this is just me.

2) Legitimate companies do not take images to use commercially. So we don’t have any judicious fright there.

3) There are other services, like Tineye (and Google) that can assistance my group easily find bottom-feeders.

4) We do register our images with the copyright office, so if someone uses an picture commercially but a correct license, it is an easy lawsuit.

5) we don’t have to say two versions of each picture – one with a watermark and one without.

6) NOT using watermarks and using beautiful commons helps more and more people to use your picture openly for fun, which increases trade and builds something we call “internet-trust.”

7) As picture poke and picture approval get better and better, there will be no need to watermark things. In 1 year+, we’ll be means to r-click an picture and select “Google-find the original creator” — there is a bit route to first-on-the-internet.

8) Yes, last, there will be bottom-feeders that take your stuff. we call this the price of you do commercial operation on the internet. These are the Tic-Tacs that are stolen from the 7-11. It is unfit to say 100% of your digital inventory, so wanting “perfection” in your online plan is an illusion.

Daily Photo – The Alps in the Afternoon

The more imperishable the mountains, the better they look with a low point of view of occurrence of the light. Of course, they also look good in the center of the day, but since the imperishable peaks are in 3 dimensions, you get many additional angles of contrariety when the object is low.

These kind of shots assistance me recollect the feign symbology built up in my conduct of the shape-of-mountains. we got a bit of this when we was guidance to draw… when sketch a tellurian face, it takes a long time to get absolved of that thing that is drilled into you as a child — that the eye is arrange of the figure of a football. If you try to do that with a good drawing, it never works. And, it’s arrange of the same way with mountains. In my head, we still have to stop meditative of them as a imperishable 2D line. It’s thousands of 2D lines, crawling this way and that, but we can customarily only see one of them. But, on late afternoons like this, you can begin to see hundreds of more lines.
