ANYONE WANNA BUY THE HOUSE IN AUSTIN?

Strangest Post Ever

This might be my strangest blog post ever…  well, hey, we figured… because not?  Besides, may be some of you want to see where we have lived for the past 7 years or so…  and yes, we are relocating to New Zealand.  More info on that later, we promise! :)

Daily Photo – Anyone Wanna Buy a House in Austin?

Contact me at wildcard (at) stuckincustoms.com if you are meddlesome in anticipating out more… this is just a little teaser with some photos.

It’s in a good area of the mountain country, about fifteen mins from downtown (with no traffic!) Austin.  The area is called Jester, and it weaves in and out of a healthy preserve.  It’s mega rocky with tons of trees.  Our house, as you can see subsequent from the backyard shot (the fourth one) backs onto a healthy preserve… so there is zero for miles and miles solely for little creeks and rocky forests.

The residence itself is 5 bedroom, two stories, ? la mode design, with all sorts of nice-to-haves.  I’m even withdrawal the media room with the projector, big screen, and all that stuff.  Anyway, here are a few photos below!

First, here is a print from the street, seeking down the mountain at our residence on the left.

Second, here is another perspective of the front of the residence at Yuletide time.

Below is the family room.  The kids are not enclosed with the house.

A Neo-Rockwellian Yuletide - Trey RatcliffWhen father is a photographer, then there is a vital grade of vigour to broach photos on all the claim holidays and celebrations! So, we decided to try to re-invent the family Yuletide print with HDR. Please note that many of my inventions go down in flames, but, as Winston Churchill said, “success is the capability to go from one disaster to the subsequent with no detriment of enthusiasm”.Christmas scenes have a lot of light levels. The lights on the tree, the low greens withn the branches, a resounding fire, lights in the room, reflections off the ornaments, and the like. It’s wild! I’m pretty sure this is because people like Yuletide scenes so much - a smashing provide for the eyes that is abounding in hardness and abounding in light. Traditionally, it’s been very formidable to constraint so much brilliance in a singular photo, saving a propitious and drastic multiple of shiver speed, aperture, ISO, and lenses. The tree lights made the faces of my 3 stunt-children (who are also my genuine children) heat perfectly. No peep could have completed this, unless you are the kind of Rambo-flash man that would go cover up one inside the tree to strike their faces from the left. But, let’s face it. That’s hard. This was a 5-exposure HDR. You will notice that we mostly use 5 exposures, but note we could have finished it with 3 exposures at -2, 0, and +2. Some stupid Nikon cameras, like the D3X we use, will not let you step by twos, so we had to take 5 at -2, -1, 0, +1, and +2. The center exposure, from which the kid’s faces were masked in and ideally lit, was shot at f/4 aperture, shiver speed of 1/250, 100 ISO, and at 28mm.From the blog at www.stuckincustoms.com

Fourth, here is a perspective off the back deck.  The first drop you see down subsequent leads to a old-fashioned little effervescent creek that tumbles divided on stormy mornings, like when we took this photo.

Daily Photo – The Mariposa Woods

While we were at Yosemite for the big PhotoWalk, we took an dusk to revisit the Mariposa Woods.  They were very tighten to our hotel, and it was an simpler drive than going all the way to the categorical play ground at Yosemite.  Plus, we had a feeling the nightfall would be quite overwhelming through the trees.  My feelings don’t regularly work out, but this time it did.

My methods still haven’t altered for these kinds of shots.  Seven exposures:  from +3 to -3 seems to get the pursuit done.  I end up with more than enough light for the post-processing.

LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY ELEMENTS

There are many factors that go towards formulating good landscape photography. Some of the most renouned and successful landscape photos customarily follow a few of the elements described in this essay while ignoring a others in sequence to emanate a singular scene. Lens
Using an ultra far-reaching indicate of perspective lens is standard, in sequence to container us much of a stage as probable into the picture. However, it’s value experimenting with a telephoto lens too.

Composition
Pay courtesy to the order of thirds, i.e. mangle the design down into a 9 block grid, then place any lines in the picture, or focal points, along the lines of the grid.

Focal/interest points
Placing a person, trees, or a structure in the forehead can give a focal point and supplement a clarity of scale to an image.

Light
Some landscape photographers never fire during the day, only at emergence and eve when the light can set upon hold up into a landscape. It’s not just the reds and pinks of sunrises and sunsets that can emanate drama, but the golden light of a low object can comfortable a stage and emanate startling textures and patterns interjection to the low angle. Similarly, storms, mist, howling clouds and dim skies can be much more sparkling to work with than a balmy day or a pleasing sunset.

elements of landscape photography

Depth of field
When using an SLR, or a digital SLR, mix a delayed shiver speed with a small orifice to make sure your sketch has pointy concentration up to the very edges. For this you will need to safeguard your camera is solid as any handshake can emanate blur. The viewable resolution is a tripod or if you don’t have one try to find something on which to rest the camera.

Exposure
Because the sky is customarily very splendid and the belligerent not so, this presents all cameras with bearing issues. If you can, then using a graduated filter will assistance to even out the brightness.

Location
Walk around the place to find the best place from which to take a shot. Time outlayed scheming is never time wasted, generally when you find a more engaging point of perspective to fire from. Wander around, get down low or stand a tree to find that engaging vantage point.

Atmosphere
Shooting in black and white can furnish some thespian landscape images. If sharpened movie and you have two cameras, you could simply switch cameras to the one installed with black and white film. Alternatively, with a digital SLR camera, it is elementary modify it to monochrome in Photoshop afterwards.

Sky
In most landscape shots, possibly the forehead or the sky will dominate. If the sky isn’t quite dramatic, place it in the top third. Conversely, if the sky is full of engaging colours and clouded cover shapes, place the setting in the bottom third.

Movement
Few landscapes are as indeed still as we might imagine. Birds drifting through the sky, clouds blowing, H2O using and waves in the sea are all examples of intensity suit in landscape shots. Incorporating suit can supplement play and focal points to a photograph, nonetheless it will meant that you will probably need to occupy a longer shiver speed (up to a few seconds). Because this will meant larger exposure, you will have to use a not as big orifice or an suitable filter.
