Entry from: Blackheath, Australia Entry Title: “The Blue Mountains” Entry: “Dave, Sarah and we went to the Blue Mountains at the end of July, which is 90 km west of Sydney, and a renouned week end getaway for Sydneysiders wanting some uninformed air and bushwalking. (Hiking) It’s more renouned in the summer though, which would be Dec or Janunary in the Southern Hemisphere, not July, which is when we went. While Sydney’s continue is quite mild, mostly in the 60′s in the winter, it’s aloft betterment in the Blue Mountains and quite a bit cooler; 30′s at night and 40-50s in the daytime. So, we packaged our long johns, scarves, hats, and bushwalking boots and set off to get the let car. This was our first let automobile knowledge in Australia and our first pushing on the left-hand side of the main highway experience. We did have the foreknowledge to compensate a bit more for the involuntary car, which was a big help. Sarah and we picked up the automobile in downtown Sydney and had to drive serve into downtown to collect Dave up at work prior to removing on the highway, which is a bit simpler driving. we managed to collect Dave up but incident. Red Hot…” Entry: “Having left at the back of the very old temples of Angkor, we arrived in the early hours at the complicated civilised world of Sydney, where we outlayed a pleasing few days with Rachel’s Aunt and Uncle. We took a packet float down the Paramatta River and into the superb harbour, a tour full of scenic views with the sky a splendid transparent blue, the jacaranda trees shining purple, and the overpass and show residence seeking stately in the sunshine. On another day we had fish and chips on the beach at Watsons brook and walked up the south conduct for glorious views back towards the gulf and out to sea — all in splendid fever and transparent blue skies! Further south we walked in between Tamarama and Bondi beaches, where the Sculpture by the Sea muster was going on — at slightest 100 creations pinch the cliffs and beaches, from the erotically appealing through the talented to the incomprehensible! A 3½ hour moody delivered us from the radiant city civilised world of Sydney to the remote dried armed forces of Alice Springs. The first impression: comfortable and dry and reminds us a bit of America with the houses being especially one story buildings with large gardens. Might not be a warn as horse opera Australia is not just so densly populated. Although our cab motorist wasnt just the talkative sort (and hopefully australians do live up to there reputations of being effusive and chatty), he got us into locale and forsaken us off in northbridge where most of the hostels are. A bit exahusted from the feverishness we headed to the first lodging place we found, and by the way the not eactly the Middle East prices we so much got used to the past few days..
so a bit different viewpoint here. Maybe we where subconsiously a bit homesick but after we forsaken our bags we went true to the british drink hall down the highway for a good cold beer. Perth was good but unfortunatly didnt get the possibility to outlay much time there as we got true into formulation our outing up north. Entry from: Kanchanaburi, Thailand Entry Title: “Up the River Kwae from Kanchanaburi” Entry: “Jen and Mike were both innate in Singapore, their fathers had been POWs operative on the Thai-Burma railway until the fight finished in Asia, and in the years thereafter their relatives very tighten friends. So the subsequent 2 days were about remembering their dads and the thousands of POWs and Asian conscripts who suffered and perished in those years during WW2. This part of our time divided was a really poignant one for Jen as it was something she had longed for to do ever since Mike had told her how relocating he had found it several years ago. He had offering then to go with her to the War Cemetery in Kanachanaburi so it was very special that he made the outing from Jakarta to do it with us. We were requisitioned onto the only organisation debate of our trip, and rather uncertain if we were going to suffer the groupiness of the experience. The 10 or so of us in the debate organisation were an engaging brew of nationalities, and receiving this outing for an engaging accumulation of reasons. We had requisitioned it prior to withdrawal New Zealand back in April, so that we knew that for sure we would get to the places we longed for to visit. Entry from: Kuzikus, Namibia Entry Title: “Guest Farm in Namibia” Entry: “Hello All! We are amatory Africa! We just accomplished with 4 days at a guest plantation in Namibia called Kuzikus. It is run by a german integrate in their 60s along with their 38yr old daughter that also lives there with her 3kids. It was so good – There was only one other honeymooner integrate from Switzerland and a german family of 4 (kids were 6 and 2 of which we fast became pals with, nevermind the denunciation barrier). We arrived in the collateral of Namibia, Windhoek, after a 21hr train float from Cape Town (ugh), then were picked up and brought to Kuzikus (pronounced koo-gee-koos), about two hrs divided (he said: our float motorist got mislaid in the brush along the way…picture us pushing gravel/sand roads in the center of nowhere but a good map). We were met by Hildhoud (the german woman who fundamentally is the trainer woman in charge) just removing finished with her sunrise equine ride. She gave us a debate around the drift – our room, the categorical eating area, pool, shower room house, the equine stable, big stable with several land rovers, trucks and the generator, etc. They are postulated by the generator, some solar energy and some wind.
