LONDON’S TIMES SQUARE

Are you a “Photographer”?

I’m starting to consternation what that word even equates to any more.  I think there there are over a billion people now that take photos.  But, very few of them would call themselves a “photographer.”  But, that is positively what they are doing.  Maybe, the them, the word photographer indicates some kind of imagination in the qualification of photography, nonetheless that is a very grey area too.

To me, the “category” or what you call yourself doesn’t even matter.  Either you suffer receiving photos for yourself or you don’t.  I don’t think it needs a word…  you guys probably know we don’t get held up in categorizations…

Daily Photo – London’s Time Square

London’s Piccadilly Circus is a value trove of angles and compositions for all photographers.  It doesn’t even make a difference if you rigourously call yourself a “photographer” or not, because we think any one even with a mobile phone would be bustling gnawing photos.  It’s really furious to see, actually.  It’s like a uninterrupted photowalk with pointless people, everybody receiving photos in every direction… and we think this direction will continue.

This is one of the rivers in Argentina that was uncrossable.

I really longed for to get to the other side because we knew there were some angles.  I hiked up and down both sides perplexing to see if there was some way to make it happen, but it was just impossible.  Oh well!  It was a pretty travel if zero else…

Is it fine if we do two Iceland photos in a row?  I goal so, because I’m very vehement about this one too.

Some of these places you can’t see from the road.  If you travel over one mountain and down another, you can find these smashing little places tucked divided in hillsides.  Even though it’s all depressed apart, it’s still charming… arrange of a fixer-upper!

ANYONE WANNA BUY THE HOUSE IN AUSTIN?

Strangest Post Ever

This might be my strangest blog post ever…  well, hey, we figured… because not?  Besides, may be some of you want to see where we have lived for the past 7 years or so…  and yes, we are relocating to New Zealand.  More info on that later, we promise! :)

Daily Photo – Anyone Wanna Buy a House in Austin?

Contact me at wildcard (at) stuckincustoms.com if you are meddlesome in anticipating out more… this is just a little teaser with some photos.

It’s in a good area of the mountain country, about fifteen mins from downtown (with no traffic!) Austin.  The area is called Jester, and it weaves in and out of a healthy preserve.  It’s mega rocky with tons of trees.  Our house, as you can see subsequent from the backyard shot (the fourth one) backs onto a healthy preserve… so there is zero for miles and miles solely for little creeks and rocky forests.

The residence itself is 5 bedroom, two stories, ? la mode design, with all sorts of nice-to-haves.  I’m even withdrawal the media room with the projector, big screen, and all that stuff.  Anyway, here are a few photos below!

First, here is a print from the street, seeking down the mountain at our residence on the left.

Second, here is another perspective of the front of the residence at Yuletide time.

Below is the family room.  The kids are not enclosed with the house.

A Neo-Rockwellian Yuletide - Trey RatcliffWhen father is a photographer, then there is a vital grade of vigour to broach photos on all the claim holidays and celebrations! So, we decided to try to re-invent the family Yuletide print with HDR. Please note that many of my inventions go down in flames, but, as Winston Churchill said, “success is the capability to go from one disaster to the subsequent with no detriment of enthusiasm”.Christmas scenes have a lot of light levels. The lights on the tree, the low greens withn the branches, a resounding fire, lights in the room, reflections off the ornaments, and the like. It’s wild! I’m pretty sure this is because people like Yuletide scenes so much - a smashing provide for the eyes that is abounding in hardness and abounding in light. Traditionally, it’s been very formidable to constraint so much brilliance in a singular photo, saving a propitious and drastic multiple of shiver speed, aperture, ISO, and lenses. The tree lights made the faces of my 3 stunt-children (who are also my genuine children) heat perfectly. No peep could have completed this, unless you are the kind of Rambo-flash man that would go cover up one inside the tree to strike their faces from the left. But, let’s face it. That’s hard. This was a 5-exposure HDR. You will notice that we mostly use 5 exposures, but note we could have finished it with 3 exposures at -2, 0, and +2. Some stupid Nikon cameras, like the D3X we use, will not let you step by twos, so we had to take 5 at -2, -1, 0, +1, and +2. The center exposure, from which the kid’s faces were masked in and ideally lit, was shot at f/4 aperture, shiver speed of 1/250, 100 ISO, and at 28mm.From the blog at www.stuckincustoms.com

Fourth, here is a perspective off the back deck.  The first drop you see down subsequent leads to a old-fashioned little effervescent creek that tumbles divided on stormy mornings, like when we took this photo.
