Arts Watch: Museums give back to military

As Memorial Day week end arrives, 4 area museums are in between the 1,300 museums national giving back to our servicemen and women who put their lives on reason — and mostly on the line — for us.

The Blue Star Museums program, which offers giveaway acknowledgment to active troops crew (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, active avocation National Guard and active avocation Reserve) and their family groups from Memorial Day through Labor Day, includes the Star of the Republic Museum at Washington-on-the-Brazos, the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. There are 83 museums in Texas participating (for a finish list, revisit www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums).

It’s a partnership in between the museums, the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families. Read more…
