Microscopy Research Project

Maria Balashova, was a tyro on the MSc Biological Photography and Imaging course at the University of Nottingham during the Academic year of 2009/10. This is part of the  investigate plan she carried out during the year.

The make up of arthropod feet connection structures has regularly preoccupied scientists. Because feet are actively concerned in locomotion, they need to be means to fast be severed from the substrate while walking, but also to strongly insert to capacitate the particular to reason on to the surface. Different arthropods have completed this in different ways, but the categorical structures concerned are well-spoken glue pads, full of hair pads and claws. In general, nails are used on severe surfaces, and glue pads are in use on well-spoken surfaces.

All of the images were taken using a Scanning nucleus microscope which is part of the School of Biology, so high magnification images can be prisoner for the investigate material.
