James Elliott Photographer Interview

Hmm, this is hard for me to describe. we like to glow often anything. we like the plea of going from sharpened landscape one day to tighten up the subsequent and dabbling in portraiture the day after. we adore bokeh, and good use of color. So in a lot of my photographs you’ll see very colourful colors and a lot of bokeh. we like to singular out my theme from the vicinity to give it the own universe to occupy. How did you first get into photography?
I was regularly meddlesome in photography and enjoyed seeking at photographs but never suspicion of myself we do it. My girlfriend’s father has been a outrageous impulse for me. He gave me book by National Geographic that gave a at the back of the scenes look of photographer’s and their work. The book really intrigued me, and sparked the thought that may be we could be a photographer too. After celebration of the mass the book we searched all over the web for more articles on photography and looked at more artist’s work – we was pretty much hooked. we got my first DSLR in 2009 and since then on I’ve been receiving pictures.
“Starry Fields” This is one of the shots where we knew previously that the ensuing bokeh would be really beautiful. This was taken in a margin not distant from my home. we adore the feeling of it – Calm and serene.
Where do find pleasing inspiration?
Most of my impulse comes from anything that stands out to me. we can take a reduced travel around my residence and find something new to sketch everyday. I’m desirous by the little things that we appear to skip in our day to day activity. I’m desirous by pleasing moments or stories. I’m also desirous by other artist work; One of these days I’ll take a Landscape shot as monumental as Ansel Adams.
What is typically in your camera bag?
Good question! we just paid for a new camera trek recently. we use a Nikon D3000 – we am seeking to ascent though, as shortly as we save up. we have 3 lenses; The Nikon 18-55mm pack lens, a Nikon 50mm prime, and a Sigma 70-300mm Macro/Telephoto. we also have a garland of filters, a cheap-flimsy tripod in apocalyptic need of replacement, battery pack with two additional batteries, and a few other nick-knacks.
“Veneziani Sogno” we do not customarily do portraits so it’s regularly fun and severe when we do. we really adore the Venetian enlightenment and saw these masks at a internal store so we knew we longed for to do a sketch with them right away. What are you seeking brazen to purchasing next?
The subsequent thing I’m seeking to buy is probably a new camera body. My D3000 isn’t bad by any means, but we want something that packs a bit more punch and is a bit more durable. we really want a D300 – so we need to begin saving. My tripod is also in need of replacement. I’m also in the marketplace for a few new lenses, may be something in the Macro department.
Did you have any grave precision in photography?
Other than celebration of the mass a few books and some articles online I’ve had no grave training. When we got my camera it was more or reduction hearing by fire, which is arguably the best way to learn. PictureSocial and PictureCorrect have really helped me progress. “Lonesome” Another shot with pleasing bokeh. Every photographer knows the manners of thirds, with this shot we longed for to emanate something that went utterly opposite the rule, and this was the result. The sepia tinge seemed to fit well with the mood. we shot this at f/1.8 to constraint the really good round bokeh.
Do you post-process your photos?
I routine all of my photos – but only to small degree. we like to keep my modifying to a minimal, thus we try to stay divided from Photoshop as much as possible. we like to keep my photos seeking healthy and customarily only strike up the colors and contrast. What has been your the one preferred print location?
There’s a stream in a circuitously locale that led me to a really good array of work, I’m meditative of going back soon. we also have finished a number of shots in Charleston, SC and really enjoyed it there. There’s a towering upstate with a great preference of waterfalls that I’ve been wanting to sketch for the longest time but haven’t gotten the chance. It’s a savage of a hike, so you’ve really got to be dynamic to go. we essentially made the outing up once but got rained out. we only managed to get one print of the falls but it was from distant away. The print is called “Hidden Oasis”. I’ll really be going back there this summer.
“Tranquility” we adore epitome and macro photography. The two arrange of filigree here to emanate a pleasing image. The immature gives the sketch the willing feeling and the impression of the ladybug just adds to that. we used my Sigma for this at 300mm on f/5.6
What lies forward for you?
I just want to keep sharpened and keep improving. I’d like to discuss it a coffee list book one day. Right now I’m operative on two series, one formed on the 7 Deadly Sins and another formed on the song of one of my the one preferred Musicians Jay-Z. we just want to emanate my best probable work. we want my work to really bond to audiences and discuss it good stories – this is something I’m really focused on at the moment.
What tips or recommendation do you have for other determined photographers?
The most critical recommendation I’d give is to just have fun with it. Make your work your own and really try to constraint the moments. The possibilities with photography are unconstrained so get out there and find them.
