Arts Watch: Museums give back to military

As Memorial Day week end arrives, 4 area museums are in in in between the 1,300 museums national giving back to our servicemen and women who put their lives on reason — and mostly on the line — for us.

The Blue Star Museums program, which offers giveaway acknowledgment to active troops crew (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, active avocation National Guard and active avocation Reserve) and their family groups from Memorial Day through Labor Day, includes the Star of the Republic Museum at Washington-on-the-Brazos, the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. There are 83 museums in Texas participating (for a finish list, revisit www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums).

It’s a partnership in in in between the museums, the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families.

“Last year the success of the initial year of the Blue Star Museums module showed that partnerships in in in between the nation’s notable relic and troops communities are a natural,” pronounced Blue Star Families authority Kathy Roth-Douquet. “We are anxious that 300,000 troops family members visited our partner museums in the summer of 2010. We goal to surpass that number this year as the troops village takes value of the abounding informative birthright they urge and strengthen every day. We conclude the NEA and the nation’s museums that chose to partner with us.”

The Star of the Republic Museum, administered by Blinn College, is located at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site, off Texas 105 on F.M. 1155 in in in between Brenham and Navasota. The Children’s Museum is at 111 E. 27th St. in downtown Bryan, the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History is inside the Brazos Center at 3232 Briarcrest Drive, and the Bush Library is located on George Bush Drive on Texas A&M University’s easterly campus.
